Our Mission

We believe there is hope, healing, and redemption for people. Those who feel broken, struggling with mental health or substance misuse, strained relationships, or life challenges can find wholeness through therapeutic services for adults, youth, and families in order to bring wholeness, recovery, peace, and joy back to your life.

We believe you are the expert of your story and want to walk alongside you in this journey. Individualized, evidence-based care is what we offer with individual counseling and, when you and your provider agree that medication is warranted, psychiatric medication.

We believe in community, that relationships provide support, encouragement, and stability. Healthy supports and attachments are what help get us through the hard times that will come, celebrate the wins and joys of life as they come, and provide the foundation for the faith for so much more.

Finally, we believe that the Christian Church was designed for so much more. It is our hope, belief, and expectation that the Church fills the gap in supporting people in the Richland County community, north central Ohio, and beyond, before they come to counseling, during treatment, and long after we have successfully closed services. Whether in reducing stigma about mental health or substance use recovery, engaging in the holistic needs of people, creating a community of support and belonging, or being the spiritual leaders, we want to engage and equip the Church for more.

We will serve every individual who needs clinical counseling regardless of their spirituality without discrimination or proselytizing, but we bring something special for Christians with whom we share that culture.

We have faith for so much more.

We believe healing is possible.

There is hope.

Meet Our Team

Jeremy Smith, LPCC-S

Prior to City Care Counseling Center, I spent nine years at a community mental health center in Ashland, Ohio as the Co-Occurring Program Coordinator with a team of fifteen counselors, case managers, and peer supporters in a program I started from nothing. Prior to that, I spent another three years at a community mental health center in Pueblo, Colorado, as a Co-Occurring Therapist in outpatient therapy and started an inpatient Opioid Treatment Center.

I have extensive experience in co‑occurring disorders, domestic violence interventions for offenders as well as victims, individual and group therapy, community-based education, and program coordination. My certified training includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Family Systems (specifically iFast), and specialized work in problem gambling and attachment‑based approaches. I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Denver Seminary and a Master of Arts in Family Ministry from Winebrenner Theological Seminary. I am also a long‑time member of Crossroads Church, bringing both professional expertise and deep alignment with the mission and values of City Care Counseling Center.

Becca Granger, CNP

I became a Certified Nurse Practitioner in 2016, and I have enjoyed these years supporting individuals and families, providing patient-centered care. Prior to becoming an NP, I worked in a variety of settings as a registered nurse.

I absolutely love meeting new people. I work well with individuals from all backgrounds and walks of life. I want to hear your story and understand where you’ve been, what challenges you’re facing right now, and where you want to go. I provide a friendly, non-judgmental space while partnering with you to achieve your goals. I am here to help with medication consultations, medication management, psychiatric assessments, and referrals as needed. I will work with you to find the most effective medications for your unique needs.

There is always hope.

I will respect you and never push, but if you ask, I would be more than happy to make time outside of your appointment to share the reason for my hope.

You matter and I look forward to serving you.

Community Engagement

Strong communities are built when people have access to education, support, and meaningful connections. Through community engagement, we partner with churches, schools, businesses, healthcare organizations, and other community groups to increase awareness of mental health, reduce stigma, and promote wellness for people of all ages.

Our team provides educational workshops, trainings, seminars, and community presentations on a variety of mental health topics, including stress management, suicide prevention, trauma, resilience, parenting, and emotional wellness. We also collaborate with local organizations to identify community needs and develop practical resources that strengthen individuals, families, and neighborhoods.

By working together, we can expand access to mental health education, encourage early intervention, and create a community where people feel supported, valued, and empowered to seek help when they need it. Our commitment extends beyond the counseling office as we strive to foster hope, build healthy relationships, and promote lasting well-being throughout the communities we serve.
